DexVal reads and reports on data from a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor (CGM). For a Type 1 diabetic a CGM is a daily necessity: the Dexcom tracks blood glucose levels throughout the day, and metrics such as Time in Range percentage and an A1C estimator help a wearer stay healthy.
A sensor is worn on the body. A transmitter reads glucose levels from it and sends the data to a phone through Dexcom's cloud database. Two Dexcom apps read that data, over different windows:
DexVal is intended to go beyond what Clarity does, by analyzing habits, trends, and other influencing factors for deeper insight into glucose patterns. At present it displays Dexcom data. Planned work extends it to outperform apps such as Sugarmate and Clarity.
